pitstop * by Tobias Heer

I took this one two weeks ago. Hunting bees is great. You can spend your whole day without being bored. :-)

No post processing except some USM around the bee.

Thanks for the comments everyone!

In opposition to my other entry (falling) there was nearly no post processing in this one (except some unsharp masking around the bee to get a little bit mor sharpness into its fur).
I used the 28-135 IS at 135 mm with a close up lens in front of it. No blurrung was neccessary. The lens was wide open (F5.6). The shutter speed was 1/3000 sec at ISO 400.

Absolutely amazing! Your hard work paid off - big time! I wonder what aperture was used and whether any blurring has been added in Photoshop. The bokeh just looks too good for an f/4.5-5.6 zoom like the 28-135IS. Of course I could be wrong - as I don't have any first hand experience with that lens. --Olaf

Of course it was luck...
but I believe you can force luck if you try hard enough... It took me about 200 shots to get one like this.

Amazing pic. Everything works - nice framing, DOF, point of focus... argh! If I really, REALLY try all the summer very hard, I may be able to shoot something half this good... Please, tell me that getting this shot was sheer luck! :) -Arn
