A glass prism, splitting white light into its spectrum. Not a PS effect.

Replaces "Thermionic", now heating up the Exhibition Gallery.

First thing that springs to mind: Pink Floyd - On the Dark Side of the Moon, 1973. Need I say more? --Olaf

Well done Ed, great clear spectrum. The first thought that came to my mind when I read the challenge topic was exactly this. :-) Vikas.

I've done this several times and it is NOT so easy to get the defining light refraction the way you want it to look. You did a nice job on this one, Ed. Markjay

Actually, there is *no* ambient light in this shot, other than what spilled over from my light source. This shot was also *much* harder to capture than I ever thought it would be - mainly because the light source has to be as narrow as possible in order for the spectrum NOT to have a white line down the middle of it. -Ed Hahn

Hehe, I've been waiting for a picture like this. Have you tried shooting it with much less ambient light?
