Moment of Impact*
by Craig Wanke

Playing with T. A. Edison's "executive desk toy." Constructed of 4 candelabra bulbs and sockets, lengths of lamp cord, a dimmer switch, and a wooden support frame.

Taken in a single exposure, minor PS adjustments. Perhaps I'll post the aftermath elsewhere :-)

other sizes: small medium original auto

Thanks. Ann, I tried to restrain the swinging bulb with a black thread, but it stretched some. No bulbs actually shattered, but one cracked and two suffered fatal filament damage. This was the last shot, since I no longer had four working bulbs after this one :)

Neat idea! How many bulbs did you break to get this one? LOL Love the bright light on the black background. Ann C

You've gone to a lot of trouble for this one Craig but I'm glad you did, it's a great shot.

Thanks for the comments. It was hard enough to time the swing, now you've made me want to time the explosion. Hmmm. Maybe a fiberoptic sensor, hooked to a cable release, and... my wife would think I've gone completely round the bend. If she doesn't already. :)
