Candlelight & Hearts
by Angela Johnson

Another one that probably isn't going to stick around long
as this also isn't the most exciting material..

Just playing around with candle light
and holes it can transfer through.
I sat and cut out all the hearts on the material
with an exact-o knife and then taped it to form a cylinder.
Placed a small votive candle on a flexible sheet of plexiglass
that I had curved to create a seamless background.
Put the cylinder over the candle and moved it around
until I liked where the reflections were.

f5.6, 1/2, ISO 100.
Only PS was cerulean toning and framing.
(The "grain" look is actually texture in the plexiglass,
not digital noise.)

Ahh, I can smell the scent from here. I happen to like what you've done here, Angela. I just wish (for my own personal taste) there there was some color to flavor your image a tad more :-) Markjay

Absolutely brilliant Angela. What a great idea. Love the way the hearts in the background sweep your eye into the main subject. It's a keeper.

I think that's a keeper Angela, it's very pretty. Phil

Very well done. Thanks for describing the setup, especially how you did the background.

I have a couple of votive candles with patterned metal cutouts that could be used like this... but I don't think tiny little reindeer are in season :-)
