I desperately tried to layer it, but it was a huge effort and I gave up. I salvaged whatever detail and light that I could on the front of the house via the RAW controls and then in photoshop, the shadow/highlight controls and curves. I felt the shape of the house in full silhouette didn't have enough interest if I left it dark. Had I shot from further back and made the house about 75% smaller, a dark silhouette may have worked. I didn't think of it at the time and the sun was rapidly dropping. I barely got this in before the light was gone.
