Shot March 17, 2004 from the top of the John Hancock building. No tripod, just braced camera on a railing. 10D + Sigma 15-30. More shots of Chicago if you're interested: http://www.pbase.com/abh/chicago

Alan, I meant comment on this. Wanted to say that both of these "Chicago by Night"-shots are very nice, but I like this one the best of the two! The perspective lines of the streets really adds depth and a sense of vastness to it. Also, the two diagonal streets intersecting right above the tower in the foreground. I really like that it is in black & white and I think you've done very well in making it so! Really wanted to give this one points, but with so many great shots and only five to give points to - an honorable mention was the best I could do. --Olaf
Thanks for the comment ISO. There aren't very many buildings in the world that reach up this high -- interesting point: the Hancock tower is the 11th tallest building in the world, but only the 3rd tallest in Chicago.
Maybe it's because we don't have views like this in the UK. But I really like this one. The slight angle on the shot, and the inclusion of the building in the foreground make this one work better than the other for me.
