Ring of Fire
* by Ralph Otto

Foggy Back Yard

I got all excited when the fog rolled in last night
around midnight. So, in the backyard with my pen
laser pointer and Irina's ring I was able to
capture the light patterns as the laser hit.

Cool shot Ralph. I was expecting to see that it had been PS'd, so I'm really pleased it wasn't. Excellent stuff (nice ring!) Phil.

Thanks Earl, MarkJay and Vikas. Looking at all the images I shot, this was the only one where the laser hit the stone right in the middle, giving the symetric pattern. It seemed a center position worked the best with it. Vikas, the colors you see are the colors recorded - as my little laser pointer is a red laser. In PS I only sharpened and added the text and framing.

I really didn't expect this to be an image I would post, as I was just playing around - seeing what kind of patterns I could record on "film". I really liked this one so here it is.

Thanks again for the comments guys!

Cool shot Ralph and By Jove, it does remind one of a buried treasure...the light effect is stunning as is the red colour. ..... Vikas

Ralph, this is very unusual and surreal looking to me. I tend to first think of it as burried treasure when I first looked, the "treasure chest" gives it that look :-)
I'm not thrilled about the center composition but, the image is striking nonetheless.

Ralph, this is a very cool image. It does kind of look like it is under water, like what a diver would see when looking for treasure. Nice photo. E-
