Not a new idea, I'll own up to that first but something I always wanted to try.
Instead of water I decided to use something a little thicker so I went for glycerin.

Even when the idea isn't whole heartedly your own, it's still worth doing a shot to see how it's done. Whatever, your own spin on this makes a great image, and I expect you had fun doing it. Isn't that the point?
