Thought I would try my hand at a few self portraits.
Quite liked this one.

Turned it into a B&W, resized and sharpened using my favorite 10DFinisher Action.

Hi Joe, thought it was about time to show my ugly mug. For the shot I used a remote triggered by my left hand. I also had a 550EX flash gun which I pointed at a mirror to bounce the light in from the left of the shot. My Sigma lens is pretty good at this aperature, maybe not so good at wider aperatures but that could be down to the dreaded 10D focusing issues. I nearly always use the 10D Finisher Action to sharpen things up. It worked really well on this shot.

Nice to meet you in person, Teapot. Terrific self-portrait, wonderful use of B&W, tack sharp. I like the thumb and finger in-frame, as I think it supports the mood/intent. Did you use a remote, or just the self-timer to get in the frame? If the latter, how did you focus? Context for questions: I'm thinking about same, and have not done so since moving to the 10D. Nice sharpness and exposure, good conversion to bw. I wonder if you would have liked it even more without the thumb and finger showing. The light spot at the lower left corner, and the hot sliver running behind your head also draw power away from a really good expression. You could punch up the eyes a little in photoshop. Good job for a selfportrait...unless you've tried them, most people don't realize how difficult is is to take a good one. Keep up the good work! Steve Bohne
