Whoa there.
by Kelvin Zee *

Seattle

Again, this was my first time doing portraits. I tried to do something different since most people would say to have the subject facing the open space in the picture i tried to compose it with her facing the other way.

I think it turned out nicely.

No postprocessing besides RAW white balance adjustment.

Kelvin,

This is indeed an ummm... appealing photograph. I like the eclectic room and the composition looking out of the frame. That's a definite. I think she's looking in a mirror (I'd be looking in a mirror all day too if I were her), but she could easily be giving a jilted look as well. Back to the eclectic room... the seam on the wall bothers me for some reason... but trust me, not much. Just a comment. I would, however, either sharpen it up or soften it down. As it is it can become distracting not being sharp or soft. Know what I mean? Did you sharpen after your resize? All photos should be sharpened after resizing them.

Nice job!

Joe,

Thank you for mentioning that to me, I actually kinda like the image the way it is. But if i get more feedback that people believe the image would look better with some sharpening applied I will be more than happy to oblige!

Kelvin: The rules expressly permit updating an image in place... "You may update your images in-place, provided that the subject matter and general treatment have not materially changed (PBase supports this function on the 'Edit Image' page)". I encourage folks to respond to the feedback of their peers. --Joe (Host of Challenge 7)
