Thanks Joe, I also followed the rules and have him looking to the left, but I liked this one better, not sure why but maybe breaking the rules was more exciting :-) ---Tim

Tim: To offer another perspective, I really like the composition. The right-margin framing of a right-looking subject breaks the rules, sure, but I like the subtle tension it creates. Cowboys don't play by the rules, do they? The subject plays well with the background. My constructive comment: Given the subject matter, my eyes want it darker and with greater contrast. To each his own but, again, I like the composition. --Joe

Thanks for the comments. As for the composition, I had just got my 10D and after taking the pictures seemed to be zoomed in too much on all of them which did not leave me much to crop. Actually, I did not crop either picture, "Urban Cowboy" or "Cowboy"----Tim

I like this also but, for me personally I would have liked seeing a bit more space on the right side of the subject... he's just a tad too close to the frame edge. Otherwise, the composition is excellent and the image is crisp and clean. Mark J

The lighting is great, and composition is excellent. imo, with a little cropping, it would have made a fantastic entry in the last challenge! - jh
