Proof, IMO, that you don't need the best lenses to take good pictures!

Hmm, could have sworn... The eyes are very clear and blue compared to the rest of the image. Even the white part of the eyes has a blue tint, whereas the rest of the image has a slight warm and yellow tint. That made me think you'd brigtened the eyes and made them more blue. That is a trick I use myself sometimes (I did it slightly to my "Rainy"-shot in the exhibition gallery as well, see herehttp://www.pbase.com/image/24985387). Here's how I often do it:

Make a rectangular selection of the face (eyes and teeth). Copy and paste into a new layer. Apply curves to the new layer: brightening and maybe adjust color. Add a black layer mask to the new layer. With the layer mask selected, I paint with white on the mask with a low-opacity brush until I know I've gone too far. Finally, I adjust (reduce) the layer opacity to my liking. --Olaf

Ummm... not entirely sure what you mean... he really does have such bright sparkling eyes.
I'm pretty sure I didn't do anything to them on this... Phil.

Thats a very nice shot!!! For my taste, you took it a liiiitle too far with the eyes though - too unnatural in my view. --Olaf
