Thanks for the nice words, Joe. The transition you see is a highlight spill from the background. I shot her against an afternoon sun shielded by a transclucent curtain, sho I intentionally blown out the highlight to retain her details.
Ray: One more comment. Didn't strike me at first, because its effect is subtle, but the gentle fade-off at the shoulders *really* helps emphasize the stuff that matters. Dunno if a simple side effect of DOF + low contrast between shirt and background *or* something you added in later, but no matter: I like it. --Joe
