Oh no!!!! I have err99 on one of mine...But an "L" lens I am really surprised. Maybe you can talk to Canon and see what the deal is....or just keep it on ice :).

Hi Scott,

You know your artifacts when you see them. You're right I did sharpen it more than I normally would due to the small size. I tried to dial it in slowly but alas I went too far. The full image does look much better. I shot this with the 17-40 L I got as an early gift from the family. Sadly the lens works well until it reaches ambeint temperature then I start getting err99s. I had never seen the dreaded err99 before this lens. When it works I really like this lens, I plan on calling Canon soon.

Nice shot, I bet the large version is awesome!!! My only comment (*) is that IMO the picture appears to be a little over sharpened, but it is still a great shot.
