...each year around this time, the Monarch butterfly makes a journey that spans over 1500 miles to come to 6 or 7 specific locations on the west coast of the US and Mexico, to avoid the cold winters of the inner western states. They "overwinter" here, mate and then die. Their gathering grounds have shrunk over years and so they have had to crowd together on what remains. It is an amazing sight to behold.
