Hi Martin,

The silkiness and sharpness of this is amazing. Love the concept and execution is very nice as well. I'm not sure about cropping it differently, but the lower stems do get a little lost in front of the trees, but other than that - excellent!

Thanks for your comments Daveed. I agree about your cropping suggestion. As it happens I already cropped out a fair bit, but more might be good. I didn't increase the shadow detail as I wanted to make the glasses look like they are floating in space and didn't want to reveal the surface the glasses were stood on (a box wrapped in black cloth).

As for the tilted glass, it really is genuinely leaning on the other. It was *very* precarious and I was panicking the whole time about it slipping and splashing my lovely 10D with sticky wine. I shot on a tripod, operating the shutter with one hand, the other hand poised to catch the glass if it slipped :)

Cheers
Martin

I like your image a lot. I think it makes great use of light and reflections, and I like your choice of depth-of-field. The concept is fine, and the title excellent.

I wonder if this would benefit from increasing the dynamic range of the darker parts?
Also, this might work ina square format (i.e., shave off some sky and some of the dark band on the bottom).

However, these are minor ideas (and I'm not positive they would have a positive impact on the picture ;-).

How did you convince that tilted glass to stay in position?
