10th: Spirit Lake - Mt St Helens by Jim Thode

When Mt St Helens blew 29 years ago it pushed thousands of trees and logs into Spirit Lake. They are still there today, floating on the lake and moving from side to side depending on the wind direction. On this day they were next to the #224 trail that goes from the 99 road to the lake near Windy Ridge.

I don't think that the cloud is from the mountain. It stopped erupting about two years ago. You can see a live view at:

Jim, I didn't realize that the lake was still overrun by those logs after all these years. Is that a cloud over the mountain or a plume from the volcano?
