"#750..?"

King Lake: Melbourne

One of approximately 750 houses lost to the devastating fires.
I captured this from a friend's house which was the only house
left standing in the entire area. A 'Bikey' friend managed to
fight the ember attack and limit the damage to the
'out-buildings and structures.
I visited her to help repair her computer system and
DVD/electronics damaged by electrical failure.
Fortunately the owners of this property were able
to escape with only some injuries. Many other neighbours lost their
lives and out of respect, I would not post photographs of those properties.

This is a striking image, and more so once you know its context. My sympathies go out to the victims of this disaster. -Kuivaamo

it's almost unimaginable what devastation was caused by the fires unless we see these images Bob. Please give our sympathy to all your friends who have suffered from this tragedy. This is a very still and eerie scene. CJ

Thanks for commenting Nico, yes this was a beautiful brick residence surrounded by beautiful gardens... utter devastation, eerie and so still.

I was there to help a friend try to restore her life after the trauma. One felt so intrusive just driving through the ruins of a once picturesque community reduced to a charred mess of rubble.

Hope it is not too confronting for this topic but it so struck me ... so noiseless, calm as if apologetic?... tranquil... breathless.... still!

Regards Bob

I hesitate to ask, but can guess this was once a home or shelter? The intensity of the destruction is hard to believe. Thanks again for these posts... deeply touching.
