Good 'stealth' shot Joshua and I like your title.

Great find Joshua! It's hard to sneak up on ducks - I've tried! With all the grass around, I'm amazed you were able to focus on the duck at all - good one! CJ

Yes, a centered composition does give us the feeling of stillness. But I am glad you cropped some of the water, I think it is a stronger image now. ~Sharon

Shame, Joshua, somehow he/she looks so lonely, isolated, dejected to me. No idea why... perhaps the grass creates the sense of hiding away from something. You did well to isolate the duck so well and retain the focus in the right spot. Compliments and regards Nico

Thanks, Sharon! I think you were right about cropping out some of the water, so I tried that. However, I think this photo really wants to be centered. I didn't even frame it in the camera -- I had to reach over a fence to take the shot at grass-level, so I wasn't even looking through the viewfinder when I took it. I have some others where the duck is in the corner, but I happen to like this one best (for "Still," at least).

Very nice, Joshua! I love the out of focus grasses, it really looks like we are sneaking up on the duck. Have you tried a different crop with this? The some of the water at the top and some of the oof grass at the right could be cropped out to make a less centered image. Still, I do like it the way it is! ~Sharon
