I see what you mean about the sailboat. She was actually on a swing, in motion, hence the wind. Thanks for commenting, both of you. :) ~ Lonnit

Very nice casual portrait of your daughter Lonnit. For some reason it makes me think of being on a sailboat. I'm not familiar with the expression but it sounds like it could be one! :-) CJ

What a lovely portrait. I like the sun in her face and the hair across her face. -dtallakson

What a great image, Lonnit...natural-looking and beautiful. The high key works really well with the youthful smoothness of her complexion.

Thanks so much, Nico. This dark background is not condusive to my processing. I work with the thought of the print in mind, which is always on white paper. If you go to my Flickr site athttp://www.flickr.com/photos/graphicdetails/3378445038/in/photostream/ you will see how the image is supposed to appear. As for fading to white, I don't do it often, but lately I'm into doing borders with a painterly effect. Some images just scream for the fade-to-white, so I appease them, but this painted edge look is new for me.

I've no idea about the origin of the expression, just that I've heard it. Sorry 'bout that! LOL! ~ Lonnit

As has become the norm with your work: compliments on another super portrait! I wrote in more detail last time about your ability to capture personality, so I won't write all of that again, but the same applies here too - quite obviously.

Where's the expression from by the way? (I have no doubt there is such an expression. I was just wondering whether it is from a song, or poem, or ....?)

I am in two minds about the border. As far as I recall, you really like to fade to white, but I guess I would have opted for a simpler border. (Personal preference. Highly subjective, I know.)

Kind regards, Lonnit, and thanks for the post. Regards Nico

Thanks, Shu. If only she were a bit more free-spirited. She's much too hard on herself. Can you believe she's 13 now? She started appearing here at 9! ~ Lonnit
