This is very nice...especially the 2nd one. I've lived in S. Calif. all my life but I'm seldom in a location to see this perspective. ~dtallakson

Danny Boy and Nico, thanks and greatly appreciate your comments!

Here's what larger versions (800 pix on long side) look like:

Nice diptych. I lived in LA last year, yet never saw the mountains. My guess is millions of the people living there have not seen this perspective.

I like this a whole lot. Super colours... enough detail even in the small sizes. Well done! Regards Nico

Thanks for the detailed info. It's been raining in LA, so hopefully it's not too smoggy now.

Hi Dylan, these were shot (9 hours apart) at the Kenneth Hahn State Recreation Area in the Baldwin Hills section of town. At the top of the hill there is an overlook which has a great view of the Hollywood Hills and sweeping to the right through downtown L.A.

The day or two after a winter storm is the best time to try for this shot, long lens recommended.

One caveat: the area can be "iffy" after dark, so exercise appropriate situational awareness and common sense.

Awesome 2-shot comparison. Beautiful mountain backdrop. Where were you walking on to see this view? I live in LA, so I'd love to come here and enjoy such beautiful scenery someday.
