When I saw this in our Australian sky, it looked like a smiling face, seen upside-down to this image, with the sliver of moon happy rather than sad. i guess the timing of the viewing makes a difference too. I noticed last nigh (Dec 4) Venus and Jupiter had moved considerably away from the moon. Julie

Thanks Mary Anne. Astrophotography is something I know nothing about but I thought I would give it a try but my lenses are less than stellar. :( ~dtallakson

Oh, I'm so glad to see this! I had forgotten all about this celestial event, and by the time they announced it on the evening news, the moon was already too low in the sky. I even ran (well, walked fast) up the hill through the woods in the dark, but couldn't see the moon for all the trees. Thank you so much for sharing it with us, DT.
