This is a good demonstration of an aspect of abstraction - that recognizable objects can be arranged or manipulated to present an esthetic that subverts their physical reality. Here it's the abstract qualities of agedness and spacial relationships that draw interest rather than the representation of rope and wood. The placement of the rope coil and diagonal plank create a sense of movement as of an wheel bounding down hill. -tv
