Old School Pin Hole Goes Digital V2

V2:
Used a sewing needle to make a hole in a strip of thin metal taped over the 3/8 inch hole in the body cap. Much sharper than 1/32 inch drilled hole. Same pin hole in aluminum foil was not as good. Tried sepia and B&W, but color helps bring out more detail in the soft image. Long exposures and extremely dark image in the viewfinder makes framing a long trial and error process.

V1:
Antique Zenith radio captured with a 1/32 pin hole drilled into a thin piece of metal taped over a 3/8 hole drilled in in the camera body cap. Never did this before so started with 5/32 pin hole and worked down to 1/32 for a sharper image. As I also managed to drill a hole in the palm of my hand with a 3/8 drill bit, I wasn't in the mood to try for any smaller holes. Sharpening set to highest, saturation set to lowest. I hope the softness works for this image. BTW, framing is done trial and error as the image is too dark in the viewfinder, but camera's exposure meter still worked fine.

I tried tonight with just placing a piece of aluminum foil over the 3/8" hole in the body cap and used a straight pin to make the hole. The image came out sharper, but needed 35 second exposure which brought out many hot pixels. Will try again this weekend with better lighting. --AussieDawg

Awesome! This is the type of 'old skool' I was hoping for. I've been reading alot about the different pin hole configurations myself thinking I'd try it this weekend but you beat me to it. One thing about shooting with these micro apertures is you get to see where all the dust spots are on your sensor.
Great Job!

I'm really glad to see a pin hole shot in the challenge. This would have done nicely in challenge 104 - Out of Focus. You can't get mush Older Skool than this! WTG.

The drill bit got stuck in the body cap and as I was trying to free it, it broke free and went into my palm. Luckily, I had it on slow speed and reacted pretty fast, painful, but not nearly as bad as it could have been. It's the result of stupidity, not much more to say about that. --AussieDawg
