A birding trip to Attu is the Holy Grail of North American Birding. Thanks to John Puschock of Zugunruhe Birding Tours and Billy Choate, captain of the Puk Uk, I can now check this off my bucket list. Ventures to Attu can now only be accomplished by boat, since the government pulled out of the Loran station with the coming of GPS technology. We had hard working guides of John Puschock and Isaac Helmericks, owner of Aleutian Outfitters on Adak. There were nine participants, two of which had been to Attu before. It was Ebbe Banstorp's 12th trip(had his 84th birthday on the trip) and Pat Moynahan's 2nd trip, their first by boat. The following are some of the photos of the trip. It's impossible to capture the full beauty of Attu and the Aleutians with a photo or the truly wonderful times we shared together.
