THE SECRETS OF BORTH

Once on lowland, named Cantre' Gwaelod, that has since been flooded by the sea, these tree stumps and roots of an ancient forest that died about 5000 years ago have been preserved in peat and can be seen off the coast of Cardigan Bay at Borth. These submerged stumps are only visible at low tide and then only when the winds and tides have removed the layers of sand that normally cover them.
