Goldthorp Family History

From a suitcase of photos from my father which belonged to his parents Edna and Lawrence. Images uploaded for 2006 belong to my late Uncle Richard - thankyou Dick! Newer materials and medals from a case belonging to Hilda (one of Lawrences sisters).

The Mara farm can be located on Google Earth from the maps in Hildas case. Using transits from Bobs photos, and comparing these with hill profiles from Google Earth one can approximate a position to 23°04.7'S 29°35.27'E. (From the map we now have the position is 23°01.50'S 29°05.00'E)

Hello, I believe Lady Janet Gertrude Firth (nee Lindsay) was my great great grandmother. She was married to Sir Algernon Freeman Firth and their daughter Dorathy Firth married my great grandfather Michael Dewar. Mary Stevenson Lindsay, was either her mother or sister (i can't remember, sorry).

I am trying to trace relatives of Herbert Victor Goldthorp, born approx 1899/1900 in Huddersfield. He served as a Captain in the Royal Artillery and I believe had a daughter called Christine. Any information please?

Hi Steve, Thanks for you kind comment on Lloyd's owl pic. This is a great gallery. It's fascinating to see these faces, hairstyles, clothing , etc. Too bad in those days, people didn't write the names and dates on the back of the picture. I just went thru this myself.
