PERILS OF A MAINLAND MOOSE

PERILS OF A MAINLAND MOOSE

Here in Nova Scotia, the Department of Lands & Forestry is doing a piss poor job of protecting the Mainland Moose (Alces alces americana).
In spite of actually being ordered to "do better" by the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia, things have not improved.
It seems likely that the population of Mainland Moose is now down to less than 100 animals. Loss of habitat is one of the main threats to their existence.
Despite all of the public backlash, and the stern warnings from the Supreme Court judge, nothing much is being done to protect the Mainland Moose.
In recent weeks, the public became aware of an area where Moose are known to live and that is already being hacked down by forestry operations.
This is on CROWN LANDS - public lands! Nova Scotia citizens are trying to get the government to halt the harvests.
Unfortunately, the public is being ignored by the politicians who COULD do something about this. Yes, I know. It's disgusting and irresponsible.
These images are my own response to the anger I feel for the lack of responsibility being displayed by the politicians of this province.
