This is very probably Xerula megalospora, recently separated from Xerula furfuracea which is larger, darker and has a dark scaly stalk. X. fufuracea used to be known as Oudemansiella radicata and before that as Collybia radicata. They are common here in the southern Appalachians. Edible, though not among my favorites.
