Jack in the Pulpit

These plants are quite unusual. The actual flower is deep down inside the cup. If a plant is well nourished the previous year, it has female flowers.It less hearty, it has male flowers, and if poorly nourished, it just produces leaves. The sexes can change for a single plant each year.
