Green Herons and Great Blue Herons are the commonest herons found here, spring, summer and fall. Occasionally I've seen a Great Egret or a Black-crowned Night Heron.

Hello - I live in St. Albans and in the past week, have come across what I think is a Great Blue Heron on my road. It seems unbothered by my car - I was able to slowly pull up right next to it, and today, it was standing in the middle of the road and I had to stop for it. It slowly walked to the edge of the pavement but didn't fly away as I passed it. I'm beginning to wonder if it is injured and what I should do if I see it again.
