What is it about some artists whose work manages to touch a universal chord in the public consciousness? Skydancer (Jo Pagliassotti) was one of those artists. Her digital art spanned a lifetime, becoming increasingly more complex and darker as time went on. Her unique artistic visions were created by an array of 3-d and 2-d software programs, and additionally, she was constantly working on non-digital projects incorporating found objects, rope, cloth, and weavings studded with all manner of bones, feathers, and organic objects.
This online gallery is a retrospective sampling of her work throughout the last several decades. SkyDancer was a digital pioneer, and this work is not only a record of the artistic vision of a uniquely creative woman, but it is also a documentation of the course of digital art itself. Sky chose to present her art almost exclusively on the Internet and devoted her heart and mind to the virtual communities she created. Most of us never met her in person, or even heard her voice, but the depth of connection was certainly there, freely passing through the monitor screen, pixel by pixel.
The co-owners of the Creative Matrix List founded by Sky, are proud to present this online and ongoing tribute gallery to the art of our friend and fellow artist.
