I think The Cure is included as part of Goth not because they thought of themselves as Goth but because Goths embraced them so whole-heartedly. The Cure are Goth by virtue of being assimilated by the Goth subculture.
By the same token, Dead Can Dance should also be included but aren't.

I found this mag to be a lop-sided gush-fest over Sisters Of Mercy, The Cure, The Mission, and Siouxsie and The Banshees. I also find it lacking in that the mag stopped at 1992 despite the fact that the sub-culture is still going strong 12 years later.

apart from a few spots on "faith", it's my understanding that "pornography" is the only actual "goth" record the cure released. so why are they so plagued by that term? roberts look? i mean, c'mon! the music press has had 20 + years to get over that tag. i'm a huge cure fan and have never related to the goth subculture.
