I spent the last 6 years of my architectural career as project manager for the City of Austin on the design, development and construction of this new City Hall. Started it in 1999 with the demolition of the old warehouses in that 5 block area and the programming phase. Constructed it in 3 phases, 3 separate contracts. 1. Excavation for the 3.5 story underground parking garage. 2. Construction of underground parking garage. 3. Construction of City Hall and above ground site features. Finished the construction in 2005. I retired from the City one year later after the end of the one year warranty period.
