You know in the movies, the sound effect they use for bullets - that zing and zip of displaced air?

When I've been outside I've been buzzed by hummingbirds going right past my ear, and it sounds exactly like a movie bullet.

I don't know if they were doing it to be territorial towards ME, or sending a warning (probably),
or just casually saying hello in a somewhat alarming fashion, but they've never hit me.

I mean, thank God.

I don't fancy being a shish kebob.
