The Feral Pigeon (Columba livia forma domestica) is a domesticated form of Rock Pigeon and is introduced worldwide.
The following 9 subspecies are being recognized:
Columba livia livia - West- and Central-Europe, North-Africa to Central-Asia;
Columba livia gymnocycla - Mauritania and Senegal to South-Mali and Ghana;
Columba livia targia - North-Mali and South-Algeria to Central Sudan;
Columba livia dakhlae - -West-Egypt;
Columba livia schimperi - East-Egypt, South-Sudan and Eritrea;
Columba livia palaestinae - Sinai Peninsula (Egypt) to Syria and West- and South-Arabian Peninsula;
Columba livia gaddi - East-Turkey to Uzbekistan and West- and North-Afghanistan;
Columba livia neglecta - West-Pakistan and East-Afghanistan to the Himalayas;
Columba livia intermedia - South-India and Sri Lanka.
