Africa, Asia Minor to South-, Southeast- and East-Asia.

The following 8 subspecies are being recognized:
Panthera pardus pardus - Africa south of the Sahara and some isolated parts of North-Africa;
Panthera pardus nimr - Asia Minor and some isolated parts of Arabian Peninsula;
Panthera pardus tulliana - Turkey, Caucasus, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Iran, IRaq, Afghanistan and Pakistan;
Panthera pardus fusca - Indian subcontinent, North-Myanmar and Southcentral-China;
Panthera pardus kotiya - Sri Lanka;
Panthera pardus delacouri - North-Myanmar to Thai-Malay Peninsula;
Panthera pardus melas - Java;
Panthera pardus orientalis - Russian Far East, Korea and China.
