Rock Roles--Rock Cuts

Sometimes Vermont's underlying geology is revealed by highway construction, and sometimes the cliffs are just there. Either way, these natural murals can be worth more than a casual look. Most are not as dramatic as the cut at Sideling Hill along Interstate 68, which runs through West Virginia and Maryland, "which exposes geological features that have become a tourist attraction." But the geology of the East, while not rivaling that of the Southwest, is not to be overlooked.
