Slangs, in Vermont regional terminology, are the backwaters connected with Lake Champlain by small brooks or
culverts, which are sometimes referred to as "tubes." The one shown here, along Route 125 in Addison not far from Chimney Point, happened to have a nice crop of water lilies.
