Day Lily: commercial nurseries carry many varieties of lily, but this orange variety is especially common. Sometimes bulbs get planted simplify to beautify roadsides, and sometimes formerly tended beds continue on their own. Foragers know that the unopened buds can be gathered and added to a variety of dishes--but they are also aware that taking buds means reducing the number of flowers, so such harvests are unlikely to take place on a large scale.
