Golden Eagle

Just about the only wildlife of note on our day trip to the Ice Fields Parkway, this Golden Eagle staggered across the road in front or our moving vehicle, my son stabbing on the brakes to miss it. It apparently had just gorged itself, was too heavy to take off from a standing start, and was searching for some higher ground. It momentarily posed for this shot from the vehicle before staggering up to higher ground then launching itself into the air for an escape. We were sure glad we didn't run over it which we probably would have if we were travelling at the speed most other people seemed to want to drive at.
