Thanks to everyone who has given such positive feedback on this photograph. It was taken on Big Lake Alberta which is located west of St Albert (just north west of Edmonton). The lake is under considerable threat from surrounding developments, this galleryhttp://www.pbase.com/cooldave/lois_hole_park gives a more complete picture of the nature of this lake. Dave.

You have really captured the spirit of the shortest day of the year in this photo Dave. Being of scandinavian descent I have always found winter solstice to be a day of new beginnings and hopefullness. You know after this day that no matter how much of winter is left, that the days will get longer and the skies will be brighter.
