The tall narrow crop enhances the vertical rhythms of this shot -- it greatly intensifies the feeling of curiosity coming from the subject.

That's my favourite 'people' shot here, exploring the 'relationship' between the photographer and the subject. Little old ladies don't fight back ;-) Very good use of shapes. It's the kind of composition photo libraries love for editorial work -- plenty of neutral space for copy.
