Here we have a gorgeous young (inedible) Amanita cokeri specimen that was carefully extracted from the soil, thus enabling us to properly identify this species. Amanita cokeri belongs to the group of Amanita having a rooting or turnip-like bulbous base. Distinctive to this particular species is the concentric arrangement of volval scales at the apex of the bulb.
