We have had a lot of rain these past few weeks and are beginning to witness the fungal fruits! A friendly and focused group led by Santo and son, Chris, enjoyed the perfect morning traversing the ups and downs of Westmoreland Sanctuary's wonderful trails. We always find interesting fungi here and today was no exception - even though we are still at the beginning of the season. Among the fungi recorded were the following: Agrocybe praecox, Collybia sp.; Favolus alveolaris (Polyporus mori); Gymnopus dryophilus; Hygrocybe flavescens; Marasmius sp.;Mycena haematopus, Mycena sp., Mycena micaceus; Nolanea verna; Pholiota sp.; Pluteus cervinus; Psathyrella sp., Psathyrella candolleana, Tremella mesenterica (T. lutescens); Dacrymyces palmatus; Exidia glandulosa; Clavicorona pyxidata; Ganoderma applanatum; Schizophyllum commune; Trichaptum abietinum; Trichaptum biformis; Daedalea quercina; Dadaeleopsis confragosa; Fomes fomentarius; Bisporella citrina; Chlorociboria aeruginascens; Diatrype stigma; Disciotis venosa; Peziza badioconfusa; Xylaria polymorpha; Xylobolus frustulatus.
