I see what you are trying to do here, Berth -- washing the image out to make it more ethereal and ghostly. The key to me is the window and what may lie within, and the peeling paint around the door. You might want to try another version, stressing those two aspects, and compare it with this to see if your evocation of ghostliness is enhanced.
