Very nice photo. It is my first time to google 'Birds of Russia' and I am happy to have come across your gallery. So I've joined the site in order to comment here. We are in Canada this winter. I have not seen any herons here yet, but plenty of beautiful Magpies. The local people here call the Magpies common, yet they are magnificent with their navy blue and white colorings. They dance among the treetops on the coldest winter days. On Maui, however, and throughout many countries, I am sure, the white heron thrives and struts. It looks just like this heron of yours except it is pure white -- unless in breeding season.
