Is it certain that this is a Purple Heron rather than a Goliath Heron? The two are quite similar. Two differences are that the Purple has a dark band along the side of its neck, plus one on its head, which the Goliath lacks. (I do not see such bands here.) Also the Purple has relatively pale legs while those of the Goliath a slate grey. The legs here appear dark.
