This gallery would not be complete without this great aircraft. The F4U Corsair, introduced into the war about 1943, helped to put the Imperial Japanese Air Forces on the shelf. It was not only a superior fighter plane, but became a close support bombing platform as the Allies invaded the last of the Pacific islands in 1944 and 45. It has been featured in many movies and TV series, and was the plane flown by the famous BLACK SHEEP SQUADRON of World War II. It is truly one of the great aircraft of the Twentieth Century.
