A "supertide" has enveloped Mont St. Michel in France. The high tide occurs along the northern coast of France every 18 years.
This phenomenon prompted me to look at the pics of Mont St. Michel that I took in 2011. Thankfully, the tide was decidedly low when we were there, but when I ventured out onto the sand, I was aware of the fact that the tide can come in at the speed of a "galloping horse" and that there was supposedly quicksand in the area. I stepped carefully.
